Reverend Lawrence Baldridge, a native of Garrett, Kentucky, in neighboring Floyd County, assumed the position of pastor at Caney Baptist Church in 1964, following the first pastor, Reverend Floyd Titsworth, who only served in this position a couple of years. Pastor Baldridge holds an associateís degree from Caney Junior College, a bachelorís degree from the University of Kentucky, a masterís degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, as well as masterís degrees from the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville in social work and community development. Lawrence, alongside his wife, Martha, has served the people of Eastern Kentucky for over 44 years.

As a leader in his community, Pastor Baldridge enjoys being involved with various mission projects including his membership with the North American Mission Board for over 30 years where he has been instrumental in church and community mission work. He has assisted numerous mission teams coming into the Pippa Passes community to remodel and construct homes for the disadvantaged as well as other Christian groups who come to offer Bible schools, assistance of food, clothing, school supplies and Christmas gifts for needy children in the hills and hollows of Knott County, Kentucky.

Pastor Baldridge also has a passion for young people that is expressed not only in his dedication to the youth of Caney Baptist Church, but through the many years of teaching and mentoring Alice Lloyd College and Hazard Community College students.

Lawrence has been a board member of the Romanian American Missions since 1994 and has made a yearly mission trip to Romania since that time.  He has also made two mission trips to Brazil and one mission trip to Mexico. 

The Baldridges are the parents of two daughters, Ruth and Mary, and one son, David.  They are also the proud grandparents of one grandson, Justin, and two granddaughters, Rebecca and Emily, and one great-grandson, Tanner.
